A unique plaid pattern that borrows from the Madras checks once embraced in America, becoming synonymous with the preppy or Ivy League style. Madras checks originated in Chennai (then Madras) and reached global popularity between the 17th and 20th centuries through colonial textile trade. Presented here in a soft, light-toned palette, this piece reclaims the indigenous Madras tradition and reimagines it in fine pashmina, woven using the rich Kani technique.
