Tall paisleys interspersed with spade-shaped butas are embroidered across the palla of this exquisite shawl, creating a striking and rhythmic terminal panel. The interplay between the elongated paisleys and the compact spade forms lends the composition both movement and balance.
The embroidery is executed in silk, a demanding medium that requires exceptional control and precision. Silk threads are delicate and prone to breakage, making such work particularly challenging; the refinement of the stitching reflects a high level of skill and patience on the part of the artisan.
