This shawl is embroidered in a special technique called Aksi. A reversible embroidery tradition in which a pattern is very carefully detailed on both sides to reflect completely different and contrasting colors. This craft is practiced today only by master artisans who specialize in this technique and who have the skill to be able to embroider both sides of a shawl without the color from one side showing on the other.
