This kani weave pashmina shawl while simple in its repeat is a testament to the consistency of the master weaver who patiently weaves each motif with unwavering focus. Bunches of ivory roses are neatly arranged on a beautiful slate grey base.

The famous Kashmir shawls that were at the height of fashion in the late 18th and 19th centuries were woven with a special technique. The pattern was woven as part of the shawl in a very fine twill tapestry technique known as Kani from the Kan which is a kind of stick pointed at each end around which the yarn is wrapped.

The ends are finished in a hand-combed natural fringe.
