7 crafts and craftspeople. The artisans behind India’s finest crafts made their way to the AD Design Show 2024 in Mumbai. Kashmir Loom was invited, alongside master weaver Fayaz Ahmad Wani, to present the meditative art of Kani Pashmina weaving.
The Heirloom Project, launched in celebration of the 10th anniversary of The Met’s reimagined Islamic Wing, was presented in collaboration with renowned New York City designer Madeline Weinrib. The initiative engaged global talents, including Kashmir Loom, who continue to uphold historic techniques and design principles, contributing to a curated selection of exceptional craftsmanship.
111 garments that changed the world of fashion came together at MoMA’s Items: Is Fashion Modern? exhibition. Among them were two Kashmir Loom shawls, honouring the global legacy of the shawl and its deep roots in Kashmir’s weaving and embroidery traditions.
